Spring 2023 -
Working at the edge of native landscape and urban environment, we have created an experimental garden under the eucalyptus canopy at San Bruno Mountain State Park. The project focuses on a hybridized landscape at the edges of the park with landscape conditions that fall between an urban and native ecotone. We are experimenting with hybrid restoration and revitalization of natural areas to explore the potential for the site to serve as a communal space for activation, gathering, and cultural understanding.
Located at the Crocker Gate trail head in Daly City, the project site was initially covered with invasive blackberry, ivy, and eucalyptus, which is representative of typical edge conditions on the mountain. Since early 2023, we have hosted volunteers on the site to help clear, weed, plant, and continue ongoing monitoring and care for the plot.
